Hellenic Energy Exchange S.A. (HEnEx) is the Nominated Electricity Market Operator responsible for the operation of organized energy markets in Greece, including Electricity Spot & Derivatives, Gas and Environmental Markets.
HEnEx, a Greek company with registered office at Athens, was founded in 2018 via a spin-off of the Day-Ahead Scheduling/Energy Transactions & Regulatory and Monitoring Departments of the Hellenic Electricity Market Operator S.A. As a key player in the Greek and regional energy sector, is closely cooperating with other Power Exchanges, Transmission System Operators, National Regulators and European Institutions for the integration of the European Energy Market.
Currently HEnEx is working on developing the Greek Spot & Derivatives markets platforms for power while at the same time is also considering regional cooperation and development of
Gas and Environmental Markets.
HEnEx is seeking new employees for its Market Operations, Monitoring & Surveillance and Strategy & Business Development Departments located at Athens.

1. Market Operations – Market Operators (Positions: 3)
The Markets Operations Department is responsible for the smooth operation of all trading and Participant support procedures of HEnEx’s markets and market mechanisms according to applicable Laws and Regulations and operational procedures.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Administration of Participants’ Registries including processing of registration/application, recording and handling of Participants’ data.
  • Front-office and back-office duties on market shift-operations 7/365.
  • Administration of market platforms/systems and application of operational procedures.
  • Cooperation with the Clearing House/CCP and the TSO.
  • Assisting in the training, certification and support of Participants and their Certified Traders.
  • Participation in system testing & development, design and implementation of business processes.
  • Recording, reviewing and compiling operational data. Prepare internal and public reports.
Skills & Competencies
The following are required to apply:
  • Excellent knowledge of common desktop applications (especially MS Office).
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English & Greek.
The list below contains Skills & Competencies which will be considered a plus:
  • Experience in energy markets through previous positions in energy markets trading & operations.
  • Experience in drafting of functional & technical design specifications for complex IT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the European energy landscape. Ability to process regulatory documents.
  • Excellent reporting/presentation skills.
Education
  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering), Economics, Finance or an exact science.

2. Markets Monitoring and Analysis Department – Energy Analyst (Positions: 2)
Markets Monitoring and Analysis department is responsible for establishing and maintaining market trust and integrity. Its focus is on detecting possible market manipulation or insider trading in the wholesale energy market. Performing markets monitoring and analysis includes cross-functional cooperation with other departments of the energy exchange and getting insights about the energy business at a whole.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Monitoring and analysis of the trade activity and price formation.
  • Conducting investigations/reports of possible breaches of laws and regulations.
  • Reporting and contact with the Regulatory Authority.
  • Being a part of the development of new systems for market monitoring purposes.
  • Working cross-function with operations and IT departments.
Skills & Competencies
The following are required to apply:
  • Strong mathematical & analysis background.
  • Excellent knowledge of common desktop applications (especially MS Office).
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English & Greek.

  • Experience in Big Data Analytics and/or analysis applications.
  • Education:
  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering), Economics, Operation Research or an exact science.
  • Postgraduate studies in Energy economics or policy are a major plus.

3. Strategy & Market Development – Energy Analyst (Positions: 1)
The Strategy & Market Development department is responsible for developing and implementing the major goals, activities and initiatives of the company. Its goal is to create long-term value for the company through the expansion and improvement of its services and strategic decisions & partnerships.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • In Depth analysis of European energy markets, focused primarily on Natural Gas and secondarily on Electricity and Emissions.
  • SWOT analysis for current and future company activities.
  • Thorough investigation of strategic company decisions.
  • Detailed design and implementation coordination of approved strategic choices.
  • Interfacing with the other Business Departments to co-ordinate company strategy.
  • Participation in research projects.
Skills & Competencies
